I think happiness is purely subjective. Each person has a different definition as to what happiness means to them. For some people, money makes them happy, and that’s all they need. For others, friends and family are all they need to make them happy. I personally don’t think there’s one way to measure happiness. There also isn’t one thing that makes me happy. Having money in my wallet makes me happy, but it’s not the end all be all of what makes me happy. Yeah, it’s nice, but at the end of the day if that’s all I have, it just won’t cut it. Being around friends makes me happy, of course. But I also love having alone time and being by myself. Time to be in touch with myself makes me happy too. I think the only true way to measure happiness is in how many times you smile each day, or laugh each day. Measuring happiness in the little things. When I’m having a horrible day, when I’m stressed or homesick or just feel gross, if a stranger smiles at me when I walk by, it makes me a little bit happier. I also believe happiness is contagious. I think if you’re surrounding yourself with the things, people, and the places you love, you can easily measure your personal happiness.
How do you think that we should measure happiness?
